About Us
The St. Christopher Health Fund is a discretionary fund for staff members and pensioners of the Bank of England (BoE).
Members can ask for assistance from the Fund to cover certain medical expenses. This includes items that are either not covered by existing health insurance e.g. alternative threapies, or where insurance limits are exceeded. If in doubt, please contact the Fund Adminsitrator before commencing any treatment.
The Fund is administered by a Committee of Bank of England staff and pensioners.
Fund Mission
The Fund is a discretionary fund set up to provide mutual aid to its members by assisting with payment for medical treatment and specialist consultation fees incurred by a member or by a registered partner or other registered dependent relatives. The Fund also makes charitable donations to hospitals and medical charities from time to time.
The Fund is managed by a Committee elected by members at the Fund’s Annual General Meeting. The Committee is responsible for exercising the duties and discretions set out in the Rules. The Rules include information on membership and the way in which requests from members for assistance are considered by the Committee.
Charities/Bequests
Each year since 1980 the St Christopher Health Fund has made small financial donations to charities nominated by our members. The charities are often organisations that have provided support for our members or have played a key role in the treatment or care of a member of their family.
The Committee always welcomes suggestions from members.
Below are the recipients over the past five years, who each received a sum of £1000.
From time to time members or their dependents leave sums to the Fund in their will.
These additonal funds help contribute to the ongoing financial strength of the Fund. The Committee is very grateful to members who remember the Fund after they’ve gone.
If you would like to consider leaving something to the Fund in your will please contact the Fund Administrator.

SCHF News
As part of our continuing efforts to improve efficiency, we are keen to reduce the number of cheques issued in respect of claim payments, preferring instead to directly credit the bank accounts of claimants. Therefore, when submitting a claim, in addition to the necessary receipts/invoices, please also provide your bank account details (ie sort code, account number and account title).
This year’s Annual General Meeting will be via video/phone link on Tuesday 27 July at 5.30pm
If you have any questions about the above items, please contact the
Fund Administrator via the Contact Us page.
